Ask your employer if they match charitable donations. This is a great way to support TCRP. You can instantly double or triple the impact of your gift! Ask if your company will match gifts to the Texas Civil Rights Project.

If your company is eligible, request a matching gift form from your human resources department and complete the form.

Your gift is tax-deductible, provided it has been held for at least one year. There is no obligation to pay any capital gains tax on the appreciated value. Electronic Transfer: If your stock is held in a brokerage account, your broker can transfer your gift electronically.

You can request a stock power form by emailing us at development@texascivilrightsproject.org. You can also obtain a stock power form from your bank or broker. We recommend that you consult with your attorney or tax advisor for the various tax benefits and restrictions that may apply to your specific situation.

In a separate envelope, mail a signed stock power form. Except for your signature and a letter stating your intention to make a gift of the securities to TCRP, the form should be blank. Please sign the stock power exactly as your name appears on the stock certificate.

A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a centralized charitable account. It allows charitably inclined individuals, families, and businesses to make tax-deductible charitable donations of cash, publicly-traded stock, and, in some cases, certain illiquid assets, to a public charity that sponsors a DAF program.

DAFs also allow donors to approach their charitable giving thoughtfully by involving other family members or colleagues in their philanthropic decisions. Most DAFs accept donations of long-term appreciated securities and other assets, and donors can advise how the funds are invested, which could potentially allow tax-free growth, and could result in more money for your charity.
